Throughout the year I tried to participate in most of the opportunities given to us. I learned lots of new skills and I feel I achieved all of my objectives for the year. I think this year has been a great benefit for me as I gained more confidence and I have a better idea of what I want to do after school.
My first aims for the year was to have enough confidence to do things I would have never dreamed of doing. I achieved this aim by doing the opportunities that Miss Murtagh gave us. I completed Fainne by speaking in front of my class in Irish and also doing the Alan Devine workshop on public speaking. I also gained confidence in myself from acting in my film project. I enjoyed being able to speak in front of my class without pausing and messing up from nerves.
My second aim was to develop my CV so I can get a better job later in life. I achieved this aim by completing my Fainne for my fluency in Irish and from getting my bronze award in Gaisce. I also developed my CV from doing work experience in different places throughout the year. I worked at a restaurant in a hotel and I worked in a printing factory. I enjoyed working hard to achieve these awards and I also enjoyed my work experiences as they gave me a better insight in what the jobs entails.
My third aim was to learn new things I didn’t know or things I couldn’t do before in TY. I achieved this aim by trying surfing in Delphi and from also learning the ukulele in music class and at home. I enjoyed attempting to surf and I loved learning the ukulele as I always wanted to learn an instrument.
My fourth aim was to do a good enterprise project to see what it is like to set up a business. I achieved this aim by entering in the student enterprise awards with Rose. While we didn’t get an award, I saw what it was like to set up a business and I had fun doing so. I also enjoyed the day in Galway looking at all the other businesses.
My fifth aim was to do Fainne and become better at Irish. I achieved this aim by receiving the gold fainne and becoming better at speaking Irish from listening at working hard in Irish class throughout the year. Io enjoyed this as I got better at the Irish language which will help me in fifth year.
My sixth and final aim of the year was to get along better with my classmates. I achieved this aim by doing group projects in different subjects like science, enterprise, music and Irish. I also achieved this aim by talking to the people in my class more and going on trips with them to Delphi and Barcelona. I really enjoyed the trips as it was fun to do things with my class and also for the fact I was never outside the country before this year.
Throughout the year we did lots of activities and went on lots of trips. My favourite activity would have to be Annie Sloan workshop as I love art and I found it relaxing to paint for a few hours. My favourite trip would have to be to Barcelona s I was never out of the country before so it was a new experience I will always remember. Overall, I thought the year was beneficial to me and I hope it benefits me later in life.
