Condemned To Remember
On Tuesday the 16th of January all TY's and 3rd years were brought to the EYE cinema in Galway to see the documentary 'Condemned To Remember' . It was about a man called Tomi Reichental , a Holocaust survivor . He spoke about his life now and he spreads awareness about the Holocaust so events like it don't happen again . It was a very unique and memoriable experience .
What struck you about the event?
What struck me about the event was that Tommy wasn’t a very old man. When I think of the holocaust I think of something that’s happened a hundred plus years ago but in reality it was actually recent enough! Something else that struck me was that if my grand parents were a different religion or lived in a different country they too could have been apart of this tragic event.
What was surprising ?
What surprised me was how much I actually enjoyed the film , Tomi being at the event really made me think about the Holocaust ; and the fact that he was the same age as my own grand parents made me relate more to the documentary and how sad the event actually was for those who lost friends and family members .
What actions does this aspire ?
The actions that this documentary aspires is to respect and treat everyone equally no matter what race , religions or sexuality they are . It also aspire so me to think about what I’m going to say before I say it because you never know what people have gone through or what they’re going through.
